From burnout to empowerment

Meet Lara Richards...

In 2017 I hit burn out. I was over-stressed, over-emotional and overwhelmed. I left my management job and went and worked in an office hoping a change of scenery would help. I did feel slightly better but sitting all day wasn’t agreeing with my body. I started yoga classes once a week hoping to relieve the aches and pains. I added to this doing a short yoga session every morning before work. Within a month or so I felt the huge improvements in my body but I also felt more centred and in control of my emotions, something I hadn’t expected.

My favourite part of yoga is the breathing....really deep beautiful breathing. I realised on a day to day basis most of us don’t really breathe. I wanted to add to this sense of peace, so I decided to dip my toe in the water with meditation. I have learnt that meditation isn’t just sitting with no noise in your mind but more about bringing the focus back to the breath and letting go of any thoughts that popped in. Slowly I felt less overwhelmed, less stressed and even more in control of my emotions.


Being so passionate about yoga, in July 2019 I have travelled to India to complete my 200 hour Vinyasa Yoga teacher training.  Upon my return Just Breathe Wellness Studio was created and I started teaching Hatha yoga and Beginners Yoga. In 2020, during the Covid-19 lockdown I completed my 50 hour Yin Yoga teacher training, allowing me to add Yin yoga classes to the studio.


I started my Diploma of Clinical Hypnosis and Strategic Psychotherapy in August 2020. This course has been a real game changer for me. I have learnt so much about myself and the processes I was running. After decades of feeling like I was at the mercy of my thoughts and feelings, I have not only learnt but also implemented lots of strategies to give me back control. I now have a choice of what thoughts and feelings I pay attention to, I understand when it comes to my inner world I have control, I can focus forward and take action to create the future I want.

This empowerment has been taken to the next level upon my completion of my NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) certification. This course teaches you how to break all those thought and behaviour patterns that don't serve you well. Next is my masters in NLP, and I can't wait to see what breakthroughs this brings.


I feel so passionate about the positive impacts these tools and practices are having on my life I want to share them with the world. My big WHY in life is to pass these amazing tools on. To help bring more peace, joy and serenity into people’s lives. To empower people to have more control over their health and wellbeing.
