Strategic Therapy aims to help you understand the processes, patterns and behaviours that are contributing to the problem. Once these are identified this therapy teaches you new skills and tools that are beneficial to help you overcome the problem.
What is Strategic Therapy?
Action Based Therapy - Strategic Therapy teaches you tools and strategies. It is a practical therapy where you get to implement and use the different strategies you are taught to overcome the problem.
Identifies the Skills Gap - Strategic Therapy helps to identify the skills gap in the problem area. It teaches us that we are not flawed or broken but rather that we have a skills gap. Once this gap is identified you are taught different tools and strategies to fill this gap.
Future Focused - Strategic Therapy focuses on the future rather than rehashing over the past. It focuses on how you do the problem in the now rather than the past events that may have contributed to the problem. After all the past is done and we can't go back and change it.
The 'How" rather than the 'Why" - Strategic Therapy focuses on how you do the problem in the now rather than the why. By understanding the processes we run that take us into the problem we can start to learn new strategies and processes to take us out of the problem.

If you are someone that doesn't want to talk in great depth about your deepest and darkest feelings or you don't want to revisit your past then Strategic Therapy is for you. Don't get me wrong there is still some talking but questions are more about how the problem affects you now, how you run or do the problem and we find the exceptions to the problem.

As Strategic Therapy can deal with most single issues in 4-6 sessions it is a brief therapy. Sessions are usually weekly so within a couple of months you can have the problem managed and resolved.

Strategic Therapy helps you to understand the processes, the thought patterns and behaviour that take you into the problem. When you start to gain an awareness of how you do the problem you can start to decide whether you want to continue the same old patterns or choose the new strategies taught.
